Case delivers its report on regulatory reform in New Zealand

Pinar Bagci and Cento Veljanovski’s report Effective Regulation – Assessment and Reform of Economic Regulation of Electricity Distribution Services in New Zealand, commissioned by Powerco, was delivered by Pinar at meetings with Ministers and separately at a public seminar organised by the New Zealand Institute for the Study of Competition and Regulation (ISCR) in Wellington. The report sets out the general defects of the present hybrid New Zealand method of regulation and argues for a move to incentive-based regulation. Pinar also presented the report to an in-house seminar for Babcock and Brown Infrastructure (the owner of Powerco) at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, Australia.
